We would like to thank Stephanie Hirst for inviting our founder, Simon Widdop onto her afternoon show on BBC Radio Leeds yesterday. Simon was able to talk about how the charity was founded because of his daughters illness and how we started from an old laptop on the kitchen table, to now supporting children all across the Yorkshire region.
We also discussed how the charity reaches its 10th Birthday this month, we have seen a spike in referrals for support for children’s mental health. Parents have reported children suffering from anxiety and depression, cyber bullying, self-harming and OCD amongst other things. The charity has provided free video support sessions through the pandemic and are looking to move into specialist premises in the next few months to further help support children’s mental health.
We are asking for help with our 10th Birthday Appeal – by making a one-off or regular donation on our appeal page, you can help us create an new dual counselling suite, with rooms suitable for play therapies for younger children and CBT and counselling for older children and young adults. We will also have a brand new sensory room to help promote mental health for children with sensory disorders.
If you prefer to set up a one-off or regular donation to support our beneficiaries, you can click here to make a card donation or click here to set up a direct debit.
