Due to the pandemic, the Annual Jigsaw Festival at St. Martins in Brighouse that is normally held over August bank holiday weekend became an online event. Over the last several months, over 1500 jigsaws and puzzles have been sold, raising over £16,000 for local Calderdale charities. Probably the first online shop created for the sale of pre-owned jigsaws for the benefit of local charitable organisations. It has also created a life-line for those that are housebound or clinically vulnerable during times of social restrictions caused by the pandemic.
Created, managed and operated by the members of St. Martins Church in Brighouse, over 300 people have benefited from free local delivery with the free doorstep delivery service, with people further away taking advantage of a courier service. Since September 2020 when the online shop was created, £16,000 has been distributed to local charities in Calderdale, with Yorkshire Children’s Trust benefiting from a fantastic £3750.
The online Jigsaw Shop is still open and offering a range of Jigsaws and you can help benefit local children just by buying a jigsaw or two! – Click here to visit the shop.
We would like to thank everyone involved with what must have been a very difficult task of cataloguing, photographing and putting online, thousands of jigsaws to create this unique and fantastic event that helps to support local children in our community.
