We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to the volunteers that gave up their time for the first post-covid in-person Jigsaw Festival at St. Martins at Brighouse over the August Bank Holiday which raised £2250 for Yorkshire Children’s Trust as well as similar amounts for other Calderdale charities.
The first Charity Jigsaw Festival was held in in 2012 and has been an annual event, with the exception of the Covid years 2020 and 2021, ever since. The event supports charities whose services are directed to disadvantaged and underprivileged children and young people in Calderdale and adjacent areas. Around 35 Volunteers assemble and check pre-owned donated jigsaws throughout the year and some 50 people help in running the annual Festival held at St. Martin’s Church, Brighouse in late August.
To help the charities continue their work and to support the housebound and those who were self-isolating during the Covid years, an online shop, jigsaws@brighouse, was launched in September
2020 and continues to offer for sale probably the largest selection of pre-owned jigsaws in the UK. During Spring 2022 this activity raised £3,000 to support refugee children from Ukraine.
Since 2012 the Charity Jigsaw Festival and jigsaws@brighouse have raised over £120,000 in support of their chosen charities.
