Important information – PLEASE READ

We no longer recommend that people sign up with the mobile phone company TPO (The Peoples Operator).

Who are they?

TPO were founded to support local charities. The aim of TPO was that 10% of user’s phone bills are donated to nominated causes, so the more someone uses their phone, the bigger the donation to the cause.

Whats the problem?

Since the TPO were founded, Yorkshire Children’s Trust has only received one payment from them from users services, this was back in April 2018. Since then we’ve received notifications of payments due to us but not received any further payments.
We have also read some alarming news articles (which are linked below) that The Peoples Operator are set to appoint administrators and the company may cease trading if a buyer cannot be found.

What do we recommend?

If you are not a customer already, we do not recommend signing up to their service, if may be better to get a SIM only contract from another network provider and donate directly to Yorkshire Children’s Trust instead – in essence cutting out the middle man.

What if I am already with TPO?

Well, ultimately, it is up to you if you wish to remain a customer with TPO. However if your only reason to be with them is to support Yorkshire Children’s Trust, then it may be beneficial to consider your options and move to another network provider and make a direct donation instead to Yorkshire Children’s Trust. It might also be a good idea to contact TPO and insist that any outstanding donations are paid over to the charities they support.

Where can I get more information?

The TPO can be contacted through their website on https://www.thepeoplesoperator.com/ or by calling 020 385 75965.
