The last thing on everyone’s mind at the moment is cancer. The whole world is talking about one thing at the moment and that is the Coronavirus pandemic. When will we be out of the latest lockdown? When can my kids go back to school? When can I go out and catch up with my friends and family?
But as today is World Cancer Day, lets spare a few moments to think about all the people suffering at the moment with cancer. Many of them having their treatments delayed or cancelled due to the current situation. Despite everything else going on in the world at the moment, people suffering with cancer having their life and indeed treatment on hold can mean the difference between treating a cancer in time or having to make difficult decisions that nobody wants to make.
Here at Yorkshire Children’s Trust, we were founded by parents who understand what having a child with cancer means. We only recently shared the horrific story of the founders daughter, Leigh-Anne and the terrible ordeal she went through. If you missed this story, you can read it here: ‘The Worst Day of my Life’.
Although not supporting the direct medical needs of children with cancer, we do support the mental health of many children, including those with cancer and leukaemia. We are also able to help financially to cover urgent and essential equipment. Despite working with some of the most vulnerable children in our community, we do not receive any Lottery, NHS or ongoing government funding so we need your help.
If you can help with a small, regular donation you can make a real and positive impact on our work. Best of all, we cover our core costs with our recycling activities, so every penny of your donation will be used to support the most needy children in our community, including those that may be suffering with cancer or leukaemia.
