Family Breaks at our holiday home in Skegness

Free respite breaks at our holiday home in Skegness for families who have children with long term physical or mental illnesses or disabilities. We provide the break not just for the child, but mum, dad and any siblings too. We are also more than happy to accommodate a carer should one be required. All we ask for a returnable security deposit against breakages or damage and a small contribution towards cleaning and providing fresh bedding for your stay.

We have two lovely static caravans and these are a real home away from home and a great way for all the family to recharge their batteries. We have a six berth accessible holiday home which has ramped access, wider door and a full wet room. We also have a larger eight berth caravan, which although not suitable for those with additional mobility needs, does suit larger family units.

Our two holiday homes are located opposite each other on a quiet part of the caravan park, close to lovely golden beaches, so if you are wanting to simply have a quiet get away, this is the ideal location.

With all the comforts of home including digital television, streaming services from Sky’s NowTV and Netflix as well as the usual on demand catch up services will keep you and your family entertained for hours. We even include superfast internet to keep you connected to your friends and social media.

Our respite holidays are designed for the families to have a break away together to aid recuperation and improve mental health and positive outlooks.

Please note: We politely remind applicants that these are not holidays, and we are not a holiday company. These are free respite breaks that we provide at the earliest convinience to aid positive mental health and a change of scenery for the family.

The breaks are provided on an accommodation only basis with no food-plans or entertainment included.

The holiday park is located inbetween Skegness and Ingoldmells and there are some great pubs, restaurants and family venues  both within walking distance or a short drive away.

If you want to venture off site, the famous Ingoldmells market is open most days and is only a short walk away. Theres also some other great things to do nearby, such as:

  Frequently Asked Questions

Who can make an application for the Respite Breaks and who can go on them?

We welcome applications from parents/guardians, teachers, social/support workers and medical professionals. The breaks are designed for the family unit (parent, the poorly/disabled child and sibings) to have a break together to aid positive mental health.

Can I pick a specific date such as in school holidays?

Sadly no. As our breaks are classed as respite breaks and not a holiday we wish to be fair to all applicants. If your application is successful you will be able to choose from a weekend or mid-week break. We will then allocate the first free date.

I can’t take my kids on holiday in school time!

Our breaks are respite breaks to aid positive mental health which also improves learning in school. We provide school support letters on request and we have not had a school refuse a respite break so far.

Is the break really free?

If you meet our acceptance criteria and are offered a break, then the actual cost of the break is free.
To ensure we can provide the best possible experience, we hold a £75 security deposit against breakages and damages, which is returned at the end of your stay if everything is ok. We also ask for payment of a service charge of £75 to cover the cost of cleaning and providing bedding for your stay.

Can I bring extended family or friends on the break with me?

Sadly no. Although we offer these breaks free of charge, it does cost the charity money to provide the service. Our breaks are only for your immediate family unit and we will verify the names and dates of births of those staying in our holiday home for site safety.

Is on-site entertainment included?

Yorkshire Children’s Trust do not provide access to any on-site entertainment or facilities on our free breaks. We have provided a list of local family friendly venues where you may like to visit during your stay on this website.

Do I need to take bedding or towels with me?

The charity provide bedding for all beds, except the travel cot. Please ensure you bring towels and a tea towel with you.
